NOTICE: November 22, 2022, HUD approved the following waiver for Huntington Housing Authority “Increase in Payment Standard During HAP Contract Term” (regulation 982.505 (c) (4) effective until December 2023.
This waiver allows HHA to meet the needs of our tenants that have had their rent burden increased due to changes in income and/or household composition.
Gateway Gardens
The Huntington Housing Authority (HHA) is an independent public corporation established by state law to provide federally subsidized public housing for low-income residents within the Huntington area. The HHA owns the Gateway Gardens housing complex.
Current Vacancy: Only applicants that already have a Section 8 Voucher can apply. The Waiting List is not open to receive applications for housing.
Millennium Hills
Millennium Hills is a mixed development in Melville that provides safe, decent and affordable housing for low-to moderate income families within the Town of Huntington. It is a tree-lined community of two- and three-bedroom units, each of which has dishwashers, washing machines and dryers. In addition, all units have 1 ½ bathrooms and private yard space.

Business Opportunities
As a public housing authority, HHA is bound by New York State Laws, HUD regulations, and other local requirements governing public purchasing. HHA operates within the HHA Procurement Policy for business transactions.
Landlord Resources
HHA issues vouchers to eligible households to rent units just as any unsubsidized renter. The landlord determines renter suitability.
Voucher participants pay 30% to 40% of their income toward rent and utilities. The remaining rent is paid by HHA directly to the landlord by Housing Assistance Payments (HAP).

HHA has 40 units at Millennium Hills, a mixed development in Melville, NY; 40 units at Gateway Gardens, an independent public corporation to provide federally subsidized public housing for low-income residents; and 573 Housing Choice Vouchers aka Section 8.
